Friday Find - The Beauty Box

The more my obsession with makeup grows, the bigger my collection of makeup is getting which only means my space is becoming very limited. So makeup storage is something that I desperately need, also having a neatly organised makeup collection only makes it that much easier because I can actually see what I have so more of my makeup gets used. I don't know how many times I've opened one of my dressing table drawers only to find something I've bought months before and totally forgot about. Now that I've developed a bit of a addiction to lipsticks and more notably MAC lipsticks, I've been on the hunt for a lipstick holder that will easily go with the rest of my storage but also makes my lipstick easily visible and accessible. Then I discovered the Beauty Box and their amazing holders and instantly fell in love.

What the company has to say:
Elegantly designed and complimentary to any decor and design, the beauty box is ideal for you to use in your bedroom, bathroom or dressing room. The organizers are not only limited to makeup products but can also be used to store your facial products, spa essentials, nail polish or even jewelry in any of the available designs. Everything can be neatly organised and stored for easy access. The Beauty Box products are exclusively distributed in South Africa and are made from high quality Lucite Acrylic.

I am absolutely obsessed with the gorgeous glass crystal handles that come on the organizers, it just makes it look that much more glamorous. Also I was told that the 5 and 3 drawer Acrylic organizers are only available in 6mm thick Lucite acrylic, making them quite strong and sturdy. The attention to detail is something that really stood out for me as each holder was carefully and individually wrapped. My holders did not have one single scratch on them and each piece was perfectly cut and very carefully put together. Which to me only makes the quality and hard work put in stand out that much more.

The Beauty Box does not only offer 5 and 3 tier organizers, they also offer a mini organizer, lipstick holders, makeup brush and nail polish holders. And then they also have jewelry organizers and a really nice earring stand. I absolutely love the makeup brush holder that can be hung off the side of your 5 or 3 drawer organizers and I actually think would be really good to store or organize lip liners or crayon lipsticks and lipgloss.

Each lipstick holder holds 12 lipsticks, the dimensions are 5 x 9 x 3 cm and go for R99.00 inc vat. Delivery takes 2 to 3 working days and they deliver anywhere in South Africa. The Beauty Box only want to offer their clients top quality products and efficient, fast and friendly service at an affordable price. This I can certainly vouch for, Delaney is such a nice person and service was more than amazing. I can't believe I filled up my holders so quickly and I cannot wait to deal with her again because I am in desperate need of some more storage and that brush holder (swoon for days).

Wishing Wednesday with Anastasia Beverly Hills

I know this is another Anastasia Beverly Hills product but in all fairness I can truly understand why she has become a cult brand. All the products I've received thus far have been more than amazing and I can't wait to add the ever popular clear brow gel to my collection! From every review I have read this is what you need to have your brow game on point and I don't know about you but someone that has their eyebrows together have their lives together. Never and I repeat NEVER take life advice from someone with bad eyebrows!

♥ Makeup Monday ♥

This was a look I did on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, I just fell in love with the warmer look. The Loreal infallible eyeshadows are truly amazing and last really long, and the stone lipliner and styled in sepia lipstick has very quickly become one of my favs! Also some of you might have noticed that I use sample mascaras more than normal sized ones. This is because I find it more comfortable to apply and easier to transport, also I don't know if its in my mind but I like the product better in the sample tube than the full size.

What I am Wearing:
Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette
Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush
Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever
Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Black
Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation in 40 Beige
Mecca Ever Matte Poreless Primer
Bobbi Brown LE Highlighting Powder in Bronze Glow
Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Reflex #82
MAC Lip Liner in Stone

Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Fig - Review

Cult products for me are either a very big hit or a sad depressing miss, because it literally takes about two months to get to me after I've ordered it. So it builds my hopes up really high to just have them shattered if I hate it, when I get it I either totally love it and get why the world sings its praises or I absolutely hate everything about it and wonder if the world has been smoking some really cheap drugs. Either way MOFO should seriously be classed as a legit disease and someone should come up with a cure or donate me a shit load of money!! When Melted Fig was released it was instantly a hit in the beauty world and no matter how many times I tried was always sold out online, the one good thing about being forgotten over here in South Africa is by the time we are able to snag one online everyone else already has it so there is no rush haha. I can however say that melted fig really is a hit and I get why its become a cult colour.

What is Too Faced liquified lipstick:
The Too Faced melted liquified long wear lipstick has the shine of a gloss, lasting power of a stain and the intense pigmentation of a lipstick. It has a really creamy none sticky consistency, it is neither runny or watery in fact is pretty thick when squeezed through its tube applicator. The applicator is a angled sponge that allows for precise even application.

Product Review:
Like the review I did on the Melted Nude lipstick which you can read here, the Melted Fig tested just as well. This lipstick again did not feel like a gloss once applied, it did however not set matte like the nude and pretty much kept its satin look and feel throughout the time I wore it. I personally feel this suited the colour better. I would describe Melted Fig as a Raspberry Pink and has warm purpled pink undertones. It has a really creamy texture that makes it really comfortable to wear and doesn't dry your lips out. This shade also lasted about 2 to 3 hours on me but because of how dark the shade is and how intensely pigmented it is, it did leave my lips slightly stained once it wore off.

Ive read that some people get 8-10 hours of wear out of it and good Lord I would pay to know how you got that right, 3 was my max while still acting like a normal person while wearing lipstick. I am so glade that the shades I got so far has been hits, I might get a few more with my next Ulta hauls.

I purchased this through Ulta at 21$ before tax

After months and months of being out of stock on most American beauty sites I was finally able to get my hands on not only one of the biggest cult products to date THE ANASTASIA CONTOUR PALETTE but also the brow wiz and dipbrow pomade (cue crazy dance) So naturally when these Liquid lipsticks launched last week my lusting went into over drive. I am really really keen to get my hands on the first two shades Pure Hollywood and Lovely. What are your thoughts do you love or hate these new lipsticks?

Avon Makeup Setting Spray - Review

I feel like I should put a little disclaimer at the beginning of this post instead of the end, this product is a holy grail product which I use everyday. I swear by this setting spray and I honestly recommend you go out and get yourself one!! And no I was not paid to do this post!

If you have normal or even dry skin you have no clue how lucky you are! Having dry skin there is so many products you can use to get that nice glow and when you put your makeup on it really stays all day. You have no idea the endless struggle to find ways to make your makeup stay in place or even make it to lunch time for that matter. I have a really oily T-zone so my makeup tends to just slide off and disappear, so I am always looking for something to make my makeup last longer. There are plenty of setting sprays on the market but spending so much money on stuff that your not even sure will work is always a struggle for me.

With us now in summer, a setting spray is really essential for me as I tend to get oily really quickly in this heat and I just don't have the time or energy to carry powders or blotting paper around with me. When I found out Avon had brought out a budget version setting spray I had to try it out for myself.

Packaging: The setting spray comes in a black transparent spray bottle with white writing on it. Its not the most attractive packaging but it is only a setting spray after all and honestly I would rather have a great product inside that really works than elaborate packaging. It comes in a 125ml bottle which is quite a large bottle and allot more than any of the others on the market.

Product: Ive read allot of reviews of people saying this setting spray doesn't have any type of scent to it but I beg to differ. It has a faint scent of what I can only describe as alcohol pads but it isn't overwhelming and you only smell it if you actually smelling the product directly in the bottle and not when your using it. I spray it about two to three times across my entire face and fan it dry, at first it feels a bit tight as it sets but this only lasts for a few minutes and then you cannot even feel that you are wearing anything over top. This is nothing like MAC's fix plus (which is not even a setting spray but I feel the need to explain) fix plus gives you more of a glow and blends your makeup together where the Avon setting spray dries matte and sets your makeup in place. I do turn oily in my T-zone around the end of the day but with this setting spray my makeup is still in place when I wash it off at night. This works amazing to keep your eye shadow at bay as well for anyone who suffers with very oily eyelids like me.

Price: This goes for R149-95 for a 125ml but I picked it up for R79-95 during one of their monthly sales so keep an eye out for that. Also this is now a permanent product in the Avon brochure.

MAC X Beyoncé Collaboration - FAKE!!!

It seems that once again it is proven that the powers of social media are insanely large and even something that is supposed to be art can turn into one of the hardest lessons learnt! This time the tables were turned on UK based graphics designer Toby Page and it seems that maybe he had just a little to much time on his hands. Sometime in December (this is when I heard about the collection and story) a image was released depicting a concept of a MAC collaboration with Beyoncé dubbed the MAC X Beyoncé collection which seen six new lipsticks which the Internet was calling the pink bullets because of the new pink instead of silver packaging.

The image which instantaneously went viral, seen Toby receiving quite allot of hate mail and bashing on various social media platforms. He quickly tried to back track his steps and posted an apology on his Instagram page @itstobypage to his 11 thousand followers but it seems the damaged had already been done and the dreams of devoted Beyoncé fans were crushed!

I am by far the biggest Beyoncé fan, in fact I don't even like her but I hope this is a lesson learned and that others don't take the power of social media so lightly in the future. Also you cannot mess with devoted makeup lovers minds like that! On the other hand concepts like this is how projects come to be so who knows what the future might hold. I am totally loving the pink bullet idea so let's hold thumbs that MAC takes notes!

It seems that since then both the original imagine and the apology has been removed, I could not find it again for an updated reference. These images were sourced from a Google image search.
