Selfie Sticks

The Selfie revolution is upon us, so my suggestion to every person that despises them is to shut up and sit down because your opinion didn't really matter to begin with. For all those people out there that are hating on selfies you all need to realise that they are a thing and they are here to stay! I would rather be a generation remembered for taking millions of selfies than a generation remembered for the fact that we sat back and let Miley Cyrus happen or let dyed armpit hairs become a thing!!

I wouldn't brand myself as the Queen of Selfies but I will not take away from the fact that I am really REALLY good at taking them (no seriously I've given so many people lessons I should actually start charging) So when I saw that Selfie sticks finally hit SA shores I jumped on the computer and ordered one right away. I am so much more comfortable taking pictures of myself and honestly wish we could do this for like your drivers license and important things, those always seem to turn out the worst pictures ever taken of yourself! One of the other reasons I decided to buy one was because when my husband and myself go away on holiday we always find it difficult to take pictures with both of us in it and its annoying to always ask strangers to take them.

I would also just like to say that there is nothing that annoys me more than seeing a picture taken of someone that is then titled a selfie!! Look this shit up people, a selfie is a picture that you take of YOURSELF get it. A picture that is taken of you is a self portrait!! Im not sure if I can explain this any easier take picture of yourself = selfie, picture taken of you = self portrait!!!

MY FIRST SELFIE STICK PHOTOS

I bought mine online from Selfie Stick SA for R220,00 but they are now available for a lot less at Cotton on, Dischem and even Mr Video believe it or not. What I am saying is you can basically buy them any where now.

Chanel Camelia de Plumes Highlighting Powder Review

Camelia de Plumes highlighting powder was the star of the Plumes Précieuses de Chanel 2014 Holiday Collection (you can see the full collection here), partly because its one of the most gorgeous highlighters I've seen in a long time and hugely part to the fact that its (to my knowledge) the first Chanel highlighter to grace South African shores.

Now I think we all know that I am one of the biggest Chanel Makeup fans, and every time they release a new collection I generally stand shouting for them to just take my money and take it all! But I will also be the first to admit that not every product they release is a must own product and some I actually wish I would have passed up on! The highlighting powder comes with quite a heavy price tag at R750-00 and deep down I know that once the gorgeous detailing is worked away you will just be left with a normal highlighting powder.

So the next sensible question you would ask is do I NEED it in my life and the answer honestly is no, no one needs such a fancy highlighter. Do you WANT this highlighter and the answer simply put is YES, YES, YES! If your a Chanel makeup collector then this is something that is needed in your collection (yes I said it its needed). Like most Chanel products the quality of this highlighter is amazing, it picks up on your brush pretty well and blends out with ease. The closest thing I would compared this highlighter to is theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, Mary-Lou is more finely milled and slightly warmer and easier to blend where Camelia de Plumes is slightly more shimmery and less pigmented. Mary-Lou is more of a everyday highlighter that can be worn to the office or anywhere for that matter where Camelia de Plumes isn't as easy to pull off and is more for parties or just to look sassy (hey lets face it sassy is my everyday look so you will get no judgement here).

The packaging is traditional Chanel, it comes in the glossy black compact with a large mirror in the lid and a luxurious velvet black pouch different to the standard sleeve type pouch that every compact comes with.

Given the chance would I return its product? No even with its heavy price tag and the fact I could probably live my life without this highlighter it still is an amazing product and different to anything else I have in my collection (also its limited edition and my FOMO kicks in).

Calvin Klein Store Opening Launch Party

Thursday night seen the launch of South Africa's first ever Calvin Klein store, which believe it or not has been two years in the works. The event was a in store cocktail party that was hosted at the V&A Waterfront. The exclusive invite only party saw some of the top fashion and beauty bloggers side by side with some of SA's top celebrities! The guest list included the likes of Jonathan Boynton-Lee, Da Les, ChianoSky, Leanne Dlamini and apparently Jack Parrow (but I had left by the time he got there sadly) amoung others!

Entertainment featured a special set by DJ Das Kapital and music by DJ Dean Fuel. We were also treated to champagne and canapés served by some of the most mouth watering male models! I can only imagine what that screening process must have been like!! Although honestly I did feel a bit shafted that there was not one iconic Calvin Klein model decked out in only his tighty whites, let's just all be real here that is why most of the ladies showed up after all. There was however more than enough eye candy to make up for this in the form of both male models and luxury bags, underwear, jewelry and clothing.

Getting My Style On At Style Bar

Putting my huge fear of cutting my hair aside, I decided to take Style bar up on their offer to have my hair styled. I feel so sorry for the poor stylist who had to put up with me but she was more than understanding and honestly made me feel so comfortable and confident that she was listening to me and understanding what I DIDNT want and was more than willing to give me some good advice. I walked in with explicit instructions that she was not allowed at the back of my hair with a scissors in her hand, no seriously I told her about 5 times that she would die if she even brought it up hahaha

From the time I walked in I had nothing but amazing service from everyone. I was offered the nicest cuppachino and then my consultation started. I initially went in wanting a whole new make over, I wanted to lighten my hair much more for summer and style my fringe again. I have naturally dark hair but for the last 4 or so years I have been dying it a shade darker. So unfortunately with all the build up even after almost 30 minutes my hair colour was not budging (why doesn't it stick like that when you actually want it to stay??). I then decided to just add some sun kissed streaks to my fringe and style it. I was told that if I wanted to lighten it it would take a couple of sittings so lets see how it goes. I then got the most amazing wash and head massage that actually almost put me to sleep to be honest haha I then had my fringe styled and my hair blown out, left with my hair feeling so light and bouncy.

I love how the salon looks inside they have such a modern minimalistic feel with the prettiest decor. Everytime I see their drawer units where all the stylists store their equipment I can't help lusting after them because they remind me so much of the iconic Alex 9 drawer IKEA units that every overseas beauty blogger owns (swoon)! I always have such amazing service when I go there I cannot recommend them more! They have branches in Constantia, Tygervalley, stellenbosch, Cape Gate, Palmyra, Pinehurst and De Ville.

You can follow style bar on twitter here @stylebarsa

All products that are use on you can either be bought at the Salon or through the Retail box website here.
