Feel Good Friday - Camping

So apparently I don't do camping the right way, like there is actually a rite and wrong way to do this. Yes I take my hair dryer and GHD with me because I have long hair and there's no way after swimming that I am going to sleep with wet hair I have never in my life slept with wet hair! Like seriously I am going camping not to a concentration camp!

I was so sick the weekend we went but there was no way I was gonna be left out, there's nothing a little pills and a load of cough syrup cant cure haha The camp site was so full and there was loads of people that we only really got to swim for like 15mins, but just to get away and chill around the fire is more than enough.

Ponds Flawless Radiance Blemish Prevention SPF15 UV Cream

I don't post things that I am currently loving and I really don't know why? I wanna try and start doing it in the future, but I will start with this little gem that has been part of my routine for the last 5 months or so. I don't have perfect skin, in fact it's far from it but I've never had any major concerns until some bitchy sales assistant pointed them all out loudly in the middle of Foschini. After almost punching the bitch in the throat, the only part that I have ever had the smallest concern with now had me wanting to run and hide myself in my house and not come out again!

Aside from the occasional break out, I found that the area around my mouth and chin was always a shade darker than the rest of my face I mean I knew about it and it annoyed me but now it was a major problem for me. One thing that was recommended to me was the Ponds flawless Radiance Blemish Prevention SPF15 UV cream and the Even Tone Facial Foam. Applying SPF to my face has never been a major concern for me to be honest I've never even given it a second thought until it was pointed out to me that UV rays is one of the major causes of dark spots and uneven skin tone. Now I apply it like its life juice haha

Even Tone Facial Foam - What Pond's says:
Gently cleanse your face twice a day with soft exfoliating beads to remove unwanted, dead and dull skin cells, while washing away dirt, oil and impurities. This facial foam with GenActiv™ formula is the first step to reveal a brighter skin appearance for a fresh and luminous complexion.

This cleanser did not quite do it for me, it looks like cream in the tube with tiny micro beads that's meant to exfoliate the skin. The beads are tiny and as an exfoliater it does work but for me it did not foam. In my mind if something doesn't foam I feel like it doesn't clean my skin properly and as a face wash I expect it to wash off any excess makeup that was not removed by my makeup remover and it just didn't do this. I did not like the smell of the product and it left my skin feeling really tight and dry after. I used this for about two weeks but did not like it at all. I picked this one up from Foschini for R54.99

Blemish Prevention SPF15 UV Cream - What Pond's says:
It protects against both UVB burning rays and the deep penetrating UVA rays that are the main cause of dark spots. Strong sun rays not only darken skin, they go deep into your skin to trigger the appearance of dark spots. POND'S flawless radiance Blemish Prevention UV Cream with GenActiv™ formula helps to prevent the formulation of dark spots below the skin's surface.

Ponds has a winner here! The blemish prevention cream has a creamy, non greasy, light weight texture. It doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy like most SPF creams do. Because of the vitamin B it hasn't caused any break outs like I normally experience from SPF's either in fact my skin has actually cleared up and I find myself experiencing less of the occasional break out. My skin is now one consistent shade and I find that it seems to be glowing, I also don't need to constantly apply BB cream in that area in fact I haven't been using it at all. I use it under my makeup and I love how it gives you a matte finish when applied. I cant say it made my makeup last any longer but it didn't cause any difficulty applying it straight after either. The only problem I now have is that area is a bit dry around my mouth area now, hopefully I can find a Pond's product to combat that but for even skin tone I can live with that for now. I picked this one up from Foschini for R89.99

Catrice Prime & Fine Highlighting Powder in 010 Fairy Dust

Over the last couple of weeks high lighter has become one of my top everyday makeup products, I've become totally obsessed with bronzers and highlighters and have been using it every single day. The problem I found how ever is that I have really tanned skin and 90% of the highlighters I've found is more white and maybe I just don't know how to work with such light stuff on my darker shade of skin but they have just not worked for me.

Then I came across Catrices prime and fine highlighting powder in Fairy Dust, if your looking for something to give you that soft natural glow then this powder is perfect! The highlighter has very fine gold pigmentation with soft pink undertones that will give you that barley there golden glow. The golden shimmer is very build able but you need to have a light hand because the heavier it is you will start to see it in lines and pores, the product also picks up really well on your brush. I apply it to my cheek bones, temples, down the ridge of my nose and on my cupids bone for that natural sunkissed glow. I also dust a very small amount across my forehead but as little as possible because it can leave that section of my face looking very oily if I apply to much.

It comes in a hard glossy black compact with white writing and although it got allot of scratches on it really quickly I love the sturdiness of this compact. The only fault I can find in this product and it really is the only one is that it does not have a mirror on the lid like every other compact I own. And although I never quite got the point of the mirror because I never use it I have to say that not having the mirror has been some what annoying because it would make traveling with it just a little bit easier.

This is one of my all time top must have makeup products, and Catrice really has a winner here!! I picked it up from Dischem for R59,95 and with a price tag like that Im going to get another for just in case haha

Come Dine With Us

My friends and I have started our own series of come dine with me amongst ourselves. I will admit I thought it was the dumbest idea I've ever heard but after having our first night I am totally exited and sold on the whole idea.

The first night was held at my bestie's house and every two weeks we will hold another at a different house. The rules are simple it has to be a 3 course meal, you are not allowed to get help cooking and every guest must bring the host a gift.

Our first night was amazing, the bar has been set so high that I think the rest of us are a little scared to host now haha We were all greeted with cocktails and then Tomato, basil & Mozzarella Bruschetta for starters. As usual we took a break between starters and mains for a photo shoot hahaha We had whiskey chicken with couscous, sweet carrots & peas for main and then it was topped of with Chocolate truffles coated with cocoa & nuts served with stracciatella ice cream for dessert

My night is at the end of March so please people if you can think of fancy names for cheese and tomato toasties please do comment below :-)

Do you host dinner parties? Please leave me a comment on some fancy ideas or funny stories!

Nails of The Day - Tip Top Cream Puff

For the longest time now I've been on the hunt for a certain jelly white nail polish, I don't know what the name is because I all have is a picture of someones nails. The only thing I can tell you is that its sort of a milky white with grey undertones. I was told to try Tip Tops Cream Puff and although its an amazing colour that I am totally loving its more of a deeper white that some what leans towards nude. Its the perfect polish for that clean girly look. Even though I absolutely love this shade its not the ONE and its gonna consume me until I find it!

Channi Chic Accessory Line

One of the fabulous people I met at the #CPTBloggetMeet was Chantal from Channic Chic and after meeting up for a cup of bubble tea I discovered that she was starting her own accessory line. She was sweet enough to bring me the cutest pair of button earrings and we started chatting about how the line got started. Check out what she had to say below.

What is your accessory line called?
My line is called Channi Chic, Ironic right! Well the reason I self named it was that I wanted it to be an extension of me, my blog and what I like. My entire range is limited edition as I will continuously update and create new pieces.

How and why did you start the line?
I love accessories and I love the power that it has to enhance an outfit. I have always wanted to create something unique that reflected my somewhat quirky personality and it eventually just flared into something special. I stared making earrings for myself as I found that I wanted a different kind of earring to what was being sold commercially. I also thought that this would add a nice element to my blog as some of my loyal readers would then have the ability to own some of my signature pieces. I found various quirky pieces and found that when made into an accessory it could turn out to be something rather extraordinary.

Where do you see the line going and were would you like to take it?
I've started out with earrings, but I assure you there are loads of other things in the pipeline. I am adding bracelets and neck pieces to the line. Also I'll be launching a snood line for the coming of winter, which I'm rather excited about.

What is the price range of your products?
My earrings are rather inexpensive. It ranges from R20 to R30. No reason not to spoil yourself with more than one pair. All earrings are individually put together adding that extra dash of love and originality.

Where can we purchase the accessories from?
My accessory pieces can be purchased from m blog and can be shipped all across South Africa http://channichic.blogspot.com/p/shop.html

Nails of the Days - China Glaze Too Yacht Too Handle

First off you guys need to know that I have been on the hunt for this polish for a few months now! I could not find it ANYWHERE and after countless discussions with Michelle from Ordinary Mis Fit (sorry Michelle) the polish was dubbed The polish that shall not be named. I was convinced it grew on trees in Johannesburg because every other person has it that side! Last week however I found out there was stock of only 3 bottles in Cape Town and I made the special trip to purchase two of them!

China Glaze Too Yacht To Handle is part of the sunsational collection. It's a neon turquoise that depending on how you want to layer it really does pack a punch in the wow factor. This is my first China Glaze polish and I did find it a bit thick but it was easy to paint with. I am absolutely obsessed with this colour it's a perfect summer shade and was well worth the wait I can see myself wearing this shade out soon though hahaha

On my ring finger I have Ciate velvet tuxedo 060

Catrice Defining Blush 060 Rosewood Forest

My preference in blush has gone from pink to peach to brown in the space of a few weeks. And although my obsession with Chanel is growing alarmingly fast and some what problematic there is no way id use my coveted blushes every day. The second makeup range I find myself reaching for allot lately is Catrice, it has become my favourite everyday brand and the quality is that of any top brand and I am absolutely certain they would be able to compete and secure their position.  There is currently two of their products that has a prime spot in my everyday makeup products and their defining blush is one of them!

I was on the hunt for a brown shade blush just to help define my cheek bones a bit on those days that I wanted to wear very little makeup, so I looked for something that could do the work of both a blush and bronzer but that took very little effort in getting ready. And one of the colours from Catrice that caught my eye was 060 Rosewood Forest.

Rosewood Forest Id describe as a mauvish pink, its some what between a pink, purple and brown colour I have fallen in love with it! The blush has a very velvety smooth texture and gives a really nice satin finish. It isn't chalky at all and gives a really nice glow to the cheeks. This blush is highly pigmented and you really need to have a light hand when applying, on the upside though they blend really well so if you go a bit blush crazy (happens to me sometimes) its really easy to correct and tone down. The product picks up really easily on my brush but it also doesn't waste any product because I've been using it since December and it literally hasn't even made a dent yet. It comes in a clear square plastic container much like their previous blushes, I love that its smaller than most containers so its easier to store and travel with. The plastic container is hard which I love cause I drop things allot so I don't see this one getting damaged really easily.

If your looking for a budget everyday blush but with higher end quality I would definitely recommend Catrice I love these blushes and I'm really glad they are going to be part of the permanent range. I picked this one up from Dischem for R44.95

Guest Post: Valentines Day Nails - Ordinary Mis Fit

I am really excited about today's post! A nail polish guru and a fabulous lady I have openly admitted to stalking on all media platforms has agreed to put together a valentines day nail post for me. I hate how she makes all these posts and tutorials look stupid easy but I lust over every pic she posts. When I grow up one day I want to be just like her ;-)

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Hi lovelies,

I am so excited to do a guest post on one of my favourite blogs and for such a stunning lady.  Thank you so much for having me, it is a real treat!

While chatting to Alice about this I could gather that pink and leopard print was a definite must.  I decided to do something that was really easy to recreate as well as a little tutorial so that you too can do this.

I  decided to use China Glaze – You drive me coconuts for the pink and China Glaze – Glistening snow for the silver but you can use any bright pink and silver you choose.  Or you could switch it and use completely different colours.

1.      I started with 2 coats of each polish and left it to dry for a little while.
2.      I then used the contrasting polish and my small dotting tool (you can use a toothpick, hairpin or anything else you can think of) to make the heart.  I do that by making a dot and then dragging it down at an angle.  Then I make a dot next to the first one (but not touching) and drag down at an angle  to meet the other piece.  The trick is not to press down too hard but rather to glide the polish down.  I then use the polish brush to make random dots in random order and random sizes.
3.      I then use a black polish and either with a small dotting tool, striper, thin brush or toothpick, I make the c shape border around the dots and heart.  I prefer to border a larger part of the heart so that the shape stays obvious but the other dots you can do c shapes on 2 sides, a u shape or border it all the way around.  They don’t have to be perfect and they shouldn’t all look the same.  Real leopard spots are very random ;)
4.      Fill in any open spaces with black spots.  Add some topcoat and you’re done!

You don’t have to include the heart or you can make them all hearts.  Whatever tickles your fancy.  One of the reasons why I love leopard print so much is because you can do it in any colour and incorporate it in many looks.  It really is so versatile.

What do you think?  Will you be giving it a try?
Thank you so much for having me Alice, and I really hope you like these and maybe even give it a try ;)

Thanks for reading!
Xoxo

My New Tattoo - Addition 5

Every December for the last 8 years I have gone for either a piercing or tattoo, its not planned out and most of the time its a last minute decision but its some what become a tradition for me! Don't get me wrong though I do think long and hard about every single tattoo I get no tattoo should be decided on a whim. I'm already thinking what I could do for next year If I decide to go for one that is, but its always like a lets just go and do it and get it over with type of thing!

I have two bars in my lower cartilage, like all cartilage piercings these take more than a year to heal and mine are far from it. They have shifted further apart a bit and the one is slightly slanted now but they are still in the exact position I wanted. These are my favourite piercings.

My tragus is also pierced in fact I have had both sides done because the left side was done first and I fiddled with it allot and hurt it so it never healed quite right and because of this my body rejected the bar and it started growing out. I then removed it and had the right side done, I've treated this one like a new born baby and its staying so far. This one is still a bit sensitive but its been almost 2 years now and its still not quite 100% healed.

I also have my belly button pierced but that I had done when I was 15 so I don't quite think it counts, just thought Id mention it.

In total I have been for 6 tattoos but this is my 5th addition, why ill explain. The very first tattoo I went for was a Chinese symbol for Honey in my lower neck I got this one when I was 19. For my 21st birthday I got a large fairy on the lower to middle part of my back. At 22 I got 4 more Chinese symbols down my spin which is just below the first symbol so I count this as one tattoo now, the meaning is Death before dishonor this one is very close to my heart because I hold loyalty above anything else (to be honest adding the Chinese symbols together could probably make it mean something entirely different like Coca cola or something but I really don't care) I then got a small star on my arm and the year before last I got love on the outer part of my wrist going horizontally. The last one I got this past December and I absolutely adore it, for the longest time ever I have wanted a sparrow but didn't have a clue were to put it and finally found the perfect place. I initially wanted it done on my upper thigh but opted to lower it a bit to make it slightly visible. I also added a Alice in Wonderland saying with it which reads Curiosity often leads to trouble, and with the placement I find this to be perfect.

A microdermal piercing is something I would really really like I think its so pretty
but it has a really high body rejection rate and that's something I don't want to chance!

Chanel Les Beiges Retractable Kabuki Brush

Part of the Les Beige collection is this adorable must have limited edition retractable kabuki brush.  I only ever held it in my hands once and it was like this holy Grail item that I've never even thought of again! Why because it holds the largest price tag I have ever seen in a brush and there was no way I could even have talked myself into needing it, so I just wiped it out of my mind as one of those he who shall not be named items! Come on admit it we all have one of those items right?

This past Christmas I opened what I call Pandora's box which was disguised in a black and white box with a gold flower and a name that almost stopped my heart for a second!! Yes my darling husband bought me almost all of my Chanel Christmas wishes is he not the best. Being ME I knew exactly what would be inside that box but when I opened it there was one extra box. Now I'll admit my first response was you bought makeup without asking!! but the second I tore the corner off revealing its name I shrieked because this item I have never even mentioned I wouldn't even dare but there it was in all it's glory and oh did he ever score extra browny points hahaha

You have to hold this brush for yourself to truly know how special it is but I'll try and explain the best I possibly can. It comes in a glossy black metal casing with a sleeve that retracts to squish the bristles together allowing you to open and close the lid effortlessly with out damaging or bending any of the amazingly soft bristles, this also allows for you to store or travel with it without damaging it. The bristles are remarkably soft it's like rubbing little baby kittens all over your face, I swear I can go on all day about how soft and fluffy it is but you have to feel it for yourself! The bristles are extremely dense which makes application a dream and because the handle is longer than most kabuki brushes it allows for a more precise and controlled application. I have only ever used it with powder blushes but it's amazing to build colour, if you were using a highly pigmented blush you would need to use a extra light hand because this brush does pick allot of product up. Like the box it comes in it sports a cream Chanel logo instead of the normal white but so does the rest of the Les Beiges collection. The only thing I don't like about this brush is that the bristles are cream so when ever you use it it stains it really quickly but I didn't have any issues washing it and all the colour rinsed out effortlessly.

The reason I say my dear husband has opened Pandora's box is because now I want anything and everything Chanel, all their makeup is so amazing to use and the quality is top of the range in everything. The prices are sometimes a bit high but that's what you can expect from a high end makeup brand.

The brush retails for around R760 and is definitely one of the most expensive brushes I own but I am totally in love with the brush money well spent (even if it wasn't my own hahaha)
