Breakfast with Chanel

I attended a Chanel breakfast this past Saturday that was held at the Myatt Cafe & Chocolatier in the V&A Waterfront. If you haven't heard of them before, they are this trendy little coffee shop that serves gourmet sandwiches, light meals and pastries as well as macaroons and imported Marie chocolates. They also serve the most amazing lattes I have ever tasted. Perfect spot for that ladies coffee date or light meal catch up with the added indulgent of some chocolate, whichever form you choose to take it in.

We were greeted with decadent chocolate filled croissants, cupcakes with gorgeous Chanel logos on and bowls of fresh fruit with muesli yogurt and honey as well as a really refreshing strong latte.

After breakfast we were introduced to the Hydra beauty line and got to hear and test what it was all about. Which now has a moisturizer, lip balm and the re-synchronizing skincare range on the top of my must have list. We were also taught a little bit about skin care and what our skin needs are.

We were introduced to the new Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation which was released two weeks ago and I am pretty sure most of you have heard of by now, we were also show a demonstration of how gorgeous this foundation looks. And told a little more about the Le Blance de Chanel sheer illuminating base which I am proud to say I came home with and now has a brand new home in my growing Chanel collection.

There were spot prizes up for grabs during the demonstrations and although I didn't win anything I was lucky enough to get a eye shadow palette that Charlene won and past on to me (Thanks again Charlene) We then went back to the studio were you could get your makeup done. There was a prize draw as well which sadly I also didn't get. But I did get a gift bag filled with samples so I am ok with that!

Every time I walk into the Chanel studio I just wanna shout "take my money take it all and give me everything" but this would probably require me to sell both my house and car to afford it all. So I've settled for walking out with at least one product that I don't already have half the time I go there. One thing that stands out to me about the Chanel studio in the V&A Waterfront is the amazing service I get every time I go there. They have the most warm and welcoming staff and Leticia is my go to girl she some how always gets me to buy stuff I don't know what this woman has over me but also lets face it Chanel is my weakness.

Will do a review on the le blanc de Chanel as soon as possible!!

Manicure Monday - Ciate Velvet Tuxedo #060

I absolutely love Winter, I get to take out all my boots and jackets and furs. But most importantly I get to go back to my old faithful black nail polish. Dark nail polish is my favourite and this gun metal grey from Ciate is an amazing colour. Its more grey than black, a very velvety satin looking grey but still a very good colour that goes with every thing.

Friday Find - She Wolf Products

Last week the lovely Priya from Purple Sparklez let me in on a little Durban secret that I've been told not many people know about! If you like me were not one of those lucky ladies to have received the makeup storage last week then I am guessing that you like me have been drooling over all these pics on the net as every beauty blogger has started filling theirs up. And although the makeup storage is really not that badly priced when I hear there is a competing company out there with competitive pricing then you best believe I am gonna check them out!! I contacted them immediately to get the low down and the lovely Nadine was more than willing to spill the beans.

A little bit about this company: She Woolf products was founded in 2013 by Nadine Singh and is based in Durban. They are stockiest of the most stunning acrylic makeup organizers in different sizes and have been personalized with the most amazing diamond handles. They also have their own branded cosmetic line as well as eyelash extensions, makeup brushes and hair extensions. They deliver anywhere in South Africa, their aim is to create a clutter free beauty environment.

Now I don't know about you but when I hear personalized and diamonds in the same sentence you instantly have my attention. And after having a nosy around their website and Facebook page I am now left with yet another lust list to add to my long long list of beauty products I NEED in my life to carrying on living you know. So far though these makeup storage drawers are very high on this list (I need that clutter free environment they keep talking about *cries)

MAC A Fantasy of Flowers Mineralize Blush in Petal Power

MAC released two limited edition blushes as part of the Fantasy of Flowers collections for Spring (released here in SA at the end of Summer, yep not the best timing there MAC). Azaleas in the Afternoon part of the pink collection, which is a light powdery frosted pink and I think more for the pale girls. And then Petal power part of the green collection, I'm guessing is more for the medium to dark skin types because this blush has insane pigmentation. Allot of people are describing Petal power as a dupe for the Nars orgasm blush but I honestly cannot give my opinion here because I haven't even laid my eyes on that coveted blush yet.

That being said the first comparison that came to mind when I saw this blush was that it is very similar if not the exact dupe for Chanel's blush in Reflex. But after using it for a couple of weeks now I can honestly say that they are not dupes for each other and in fact are two separate blushes all on their own, both of which I believe every girl should own.

MAC describes this mineralized blush as a coral pink with gold shimmer. Now the first thing I want to point out is that this blush is insanely pigmented. It is a bright warm coral with warm orange and pink undertones and a golden frosted finish. Again I would like to point out that the golden sheen is also very prominent and does emphasize your pores somewhat. This blush has amazing color pay off and maybe its cause I have medium skin but I didn't experience any of the powdery effect that allot complained about. These are baked blushes and even with one or two sweeps across the compact gave ridiculous payoff, so the art of blending comes into play here. Like all their blushes it comes in a round black plastic container with a clear lid so the product is visible even while closed. I didn't think I would love this blush as much as I do, in fact I love it more than my Chanel (GASPS) but the Chanel has more of a glittery sparkle rather than a sheen and this is what I love. I love the warm coral color and also that the golden sheen acts as a highlighter as well so its like using two products at once which is always a bonus for me. It is really easy to both blend and build and lasted around 4 to 5 hours on my combination skin.

MAC has a winner here, my new all time favourite aside from my Chanel Christmas blush of course! You can pick this up for R245 at counters that still have stock, because this sold out in hours when it launched.

Hey Gorgeous Candy Floss Lip Scrub

I was lucky enough to get one of these candy floss lip scrubs from the fabulous people over at Hey Gorgeous and am I glad I ever did. I have never been the lip scrub type I did not get the point of it, I mean I always have my labello or babylips some type of lip moisturizer on me and I always thought this was enough. Then when I started wearing brighter shades of lipstick I notice how sometimes I would have buildup in the creases of my lips and also it would make my lips look so dry that I'd end up removing everything. The fact is our lips are just like the rest of our body and it also needs to be exfoliated to help remove dead and dry skin cells so that your left with smooth brighter skin.

A lip scrub is basically sugar, oil, colouring and flavouring and I'm guessing sticking you finger into a sugar bowl and rubbing this across your lips would probably do the same job and you could probably make this at home but really ain't nobody got time for that. I'd rather buy the perfectly packaged little tub any day because the amazingly strong scent from the candy floss is divine, I could smell it the minute the courier company walked in the door with the sealed bag.

The lip scrub is really easy to apply, the only fault I could find is that this product is not really something you can use on the go. You can't be out shopping or anything and suddenly feel that your lips are really dry and pop it out of your bag because this product is really messy to use. The best place to use it is in you bathroom standing over your basin because the excess sugar and oil really need to be cleaned immediately. The one thing I'm really glad and happy about is that the tub it comes in really does seal tightly, even though some of the oil does escape I left it on the kitchen counter over night and it was attacked by ants luckily I was able to wash this away under the tap. I've had to store it in the fridge because I think this strong sweet smell is just to much of a temptation for them, I was afraid that it would go hard but it hasn't as long as there is enough oil to cover the sugar your able to leave it there for sometime. Also applying it cold to your lips is allot more soothing.

These come in 100g tubs for R60 and can be ordered directly from the Hey gorgeous site, Hey Gorgeous products are 100% natural and made for woman by woman. It is a family run business offering the most amazing sounding and smelling products all centered around body care products that are good enough to eat!

MAC Fix Plus Spray

The fix+ spray has had really mixed reviews from bloggers, the only two conclusions I could find were people either absolutely loved it or they hated everything about it. So the only conclusion I could come up with is to try it out for myself. I think one of the major problems is that people don't quite understand what it is and what it's actually supposed to be used for. Allot of people seem to think that it's a setting spray that's supposed to make your makeup last longer but in actual fact it's just a misting spray that is supposed to take away the powder effect and mattify and blend your makeup. I would blame the confusion on the lack of training that the MAC girls have because even when trying to sell it to me it was described as a setting spray and a makeup pro longer.

"A soothing moisture mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup. Hold bottle 12"away from face and spray evenly. Use before or after makeup."

I've been using it for the past couple of weeks and I have to say I absolutely love it, I think this will probably be on my repurchase this for some time to come. I don't really wear a full face of makeup but I do find that some of my highlighters and blushes even the bronzers do have a tendency to look powdery and also although some products apply and blend pretty well when adding allot together blending them seamlessly can be some what of a tedious job and I find a few sprays of this mist blends it perfectly and melts it into you skin leaving you with a dewy luminous look. If you ask me this does some what work as a setting spray and has added a few extra hours of wear to my makeup so I do get why it is described as this but if your buying it purely for this then it's not the product your looking for.

"An aqua spritz of vitamin and minerals infused with calm the skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh natural, energizing scent of sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray on skin drinks it up"

The first thing that caught my attention was the scent its a really strong fresh scent but it isn't over powering and fades away really quickly. The design of the nozzle allows for a really even application you only need two or three sprays to cover your whole face. The nozzle sprays out in a really fin mist so you don't have to worry about it destroying your freshly painted face with big drops. The nozzle also twists to lock it so traveling with it is much easier and you don't have to worry about it leaking. It comes in a 100ml bottle for R210 and I do believe there are travel size bottles available.

Uses for Fix+
As a prep or finishing spray - it can be used before you apply foundation or primers as a skin hydrater or after as a blender and finisher.
To dilute and thin out thick or waxy foundations and creams.
Spray on your eyeshadow brush to apply baked or loose pigmented eyeshadow.
Spritz on your face with or with out makeup as a refresher on hot days (you can also put it in the fridge on hot days to add a cooler spritz to your face)
