Labello Lip Butters

If you live anywhere else in the world then chances are you know this lip balm as Nivea lip butter. Now I have personally never tried the Nivea one but after reading such an amazing review on Lipgloss Kisses  for the Labello one I had to go out and grab one to test for myself. After doing extensive research I am pretty confident in saying that it is the exact same product just labeled under Labello in S.A.

The Packaging: They come in round tin containers 19ml each, which is quite big but still the perfect size to sit nicely in your jeans pocket. The lid closes tightly so you don't need to worry about it opening in your bag and getting stuff in it, but it doesn't close to tightly that you cant open it (like those little vicks tins that I just can never seem to open

The actual product: We have 3 flavors available to us here in S.A. Vanilla & Macadamia, Raspberry Rose and Original. Chicara describes the sent as "freshly baked white chocolate tart topped with macadamia nut brittle, the vanilla is a rich & creamy white chocolatey scent that isn't in the least bit artificial". I had to quote her here cause there is no way I could have described it better myself! Its a milky colour in the tin but goes clear once applied with a slight gloss. Its very creamy and smooth and not sticky at all, and  is very moisturizing. It has a nice strong scent when you open it only thing that disappointed me was it doesn't have any taste once applied to your lips, but I guess none of the labello products really do.

Let me give you a little history lesson. Nivea is a global skin- and body-care brand that is owned by the German company Beiersdorf, the company was founded in 1882 by pharmacist Paul Carl Beiersdorp and was sold in 1890 to Oscar Troplowitz.(many things happen which is a bit boring to get into but I'll skip forward a bit) in 1909 Dr Oscar Troplowitz launched Labello, the product was first sold as sticks wrapped in paper and had to be applied with the finger, it then was introduced in a sliding case made of tin, it was then changed to aluminium and later the plastic that we have all come to know. Labello is sold around the world with different labels; LabelloLabello Nivea, Liposan and Nivea Lip Care. Its brands include Elastoplast, Eucerin (makers of Aquaphor) Labello, La Prairie and Nivea. Im pretty sure everyones brains are probably spinning a bit now haha

So I've added both pics of the Labello and Nivea you can decide for yourself if you think its the same product or not.

These go for R29-95 and you can get them at Dischem, Clicks, Checkers and most big retailers.

In Love & Lipgloss
